The research topics we cover in the particle research group span over the fields of atmospheric aerosol chemistry, aerosol instrumentation and aerosol-based nanotechnology (cf. Fig. below). The main focus of our research is the study of the behavior of aerosol particles and their interactions with gaseous species in the atmosphere. To do that we very often need to develop novel instruments and experimental setups to probe specific properties of aerosol particles (e.g., size, morphology, hygroscopicity, volatility, etc.). To measure the concentration of gaseous species in our experiments we also develop solid-state gas sensors using aerosol-based technologies.
