GEORGE BISKOS

George is an Associate Professor at the EEWRC of the Cyprus Institute, and a part-time faculty member at the Department of Geosciences and Remote Sensing of Delft University of Technology. Before joining the Cyprus Institute George has been a faculty member at the University of the Aegean and a Researcher at Harvard University (Scot Martin’s Group). ELENI TRIANTAFYLLOU

Eleni joined the particle research group as a PhD student in 2009. She holds an MSc degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of the Aegean (2008), and a BSc degree in Geotechnology and Environmental Engineering from the Technical and Educational Institute of Western Macedonia (2007). Eleni’s work focuses on the characteristics of Particulate Matter pollution in the broader region of the Mediterranean. (email: etriantaf[at]env.aegean.gr)

DIMITRIS SIAKAVARAS

Dimitris joined the group in 2009 as a PhD student. He holds an MSc degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of the Aegean (2008), and a BSc degree in Chemistry from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2000). His work is focused on determining the properties of airborne particles observed in urban environments.

SPYROS BEZANTAKOS

Spyros joined the particle research group as a PhD student in 2012. He holds an MSc degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering from the University of the Aegean (2011), and a BSc degree in Energy Technology from the Technical and Educational Institute of Athens (2005). His work focuses on determining the hygroscopic properties of atmospheric particles.

CHRISTODOULOS PSANIS

Christos joined the particle research group in 2013. He holds a PhD degree in Automotive and Motorsports Engineering from Brunel University, London (2008) and a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technological Educational Institute of Crete (2003). His academic interests lay in High-Performance Engines, Hybrid Internal Combustion Engines, Alternative Fuel Technology and Emission Control Techniques. LUIS MENDES

Luís joined the particle research group as a PhD student in 2014, in association with the Environmental Radioactivity Laboratory of NCSR “DEMOKRITOS”. He holds an MSc degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Aveiro (2012) and a BSc from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (2010). His work is supported by the ITN – Marie Curie Action HEXACOMM, and focuses on determining the volatility of ultrafine particles in indoor environments.

MARIA GIAMARELOU

Maria joined the particle research group as a PhD student in 2009 and graduated in 2014. Since then she is a part-time postdoctoral fellow in the group. She holds an MSc degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of the Aegean (2009), and a BSc degree in Mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2002). Her work focuses on the theoretical modeling of electrical mobility analyzers and the data analysis from aerosol spectrometers.

MICHALIS LASITHIOTAKIS

Michael Joined the Particle research Group in 2014. He holds a PhD degree in Materials Science from the University of Manchester (2012), an MSc degree in Materials Science and Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (2005) and a diploma of Mineral Resources Engineering from Technical University of Crete (2003). His main areas of expertise is fossil fuels, nuclear waste, waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling, hydrometallurgy and industrial indoor air quality. (email: mlasi[at]env.aegean.gr)

NICHOLAS SURAWSKI

Nic joined the particle research group as a postdoc in August 2015.  Prior to his arrival in Cyprus, Nic completed his first post-doctoral fellowship with the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (Canberra, Australia) in greenhouse gas accounting from fire. Nic has a PhD degree in Vehicle Emissions from Queensland University of Technology (QUT; 2012). He also holds degrees in mathematics (QUT; 2007), and honours degree in groundwater hydrology (Griffith University; 2005) and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science (Griffith University; 2002) (email: n.surawski@cyi.ac.cy).
